Rob Thomas is your independent voice on Auckland Council’s Waitemata Local Board.
The Waitemata Local Board represents residents living between Newmarket and Parnell through to Western Springs.

Each day over 120,000 people move in and around our ward to work, study, live and play. The population of our ward is the fastest growing in Auckland; with an estimated residential population of 79,000 people. The average age of our ward is 31 years old and attracts many young people studying in the city centre.
There are active resident associations in:

- Newmarket
- Grafton
- Seccombes Ave
- City Centre
- Eden Terrace
- Arch Hill
- Grey Lynn
- Ponsonby
- Westmere
- Herne Bay
- St Mary’s Bay
- Freeman’s Bay
Each year thousands of people take part in the hundreds of festivals, concerts and sporting events that take place. The Waitemata Local Board area is the economic powerhouse of the country with seven business associations, which include:

- Newmarket
- Parnell
- UpTown
- K’Road
- Ponsonby
- Grey Lynn
